Accomplishments
In 2010, WINGS' Family Planning Initiative achieved the following:
2,086 educational talks, counseling sessions, and home visits provided, reaching 17,954 people.
Through our partnership with APROFAM, we subsidized 4,714 permanent methods (4,188 tubal ligations and 526 vasectomies) and provided 2,288 Jadelle implants (a long-term method that protects women for up to 5 years) at 3 stationary clinics in the departments of Chimaltenango, Sacatepéquez, and Escuintla and various mobile clinics operating in 13 departments of Guatemala.
Trained and supplied a network of 29 community family planning promoters in the departments of Chimaltenango, Sacatepéquez, and Escuintla, who distributed 17,735 temporary methods.
Trained 363 staff from 13 different Guatemalan-based organizations in reproductive health and family planning best practices.
Conducted 3 capacity building workshops, including one with military personnel, on sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS prevention.
