Accomplishments
In 2009, WINGS' Family Planning Initiative achieved the following:
- Gave 598 talks on reproductive health and family planning education to 14,903 people through educational talks, individual counseling, and home visits.
- Provided 3,986 permanent methods, including 3,557 tubal ligations and 429 vasectomies.
- Trained 271 staff from 12 different organizations and religious groups in best practices in reproductive health and family planning service delivery.
- Provided 3,747 Jadelle implants, providing women with up to 5 years of protection from unwanted pregnancies.
- Our network of family planning promoters provided temporary methods to 1,121 new users this year.
- Provided 23,171 temporary methods, including birth control pills, Depo-Provera injections and condoms through WINGS-subsidized family planning services.
