Trainings

WINGS is regularly asked to provide training for other organizations working in Guatemala so that they can better meet the reproductive health needs of the population through their own programs. We provide comprehensive instruction on reproductive health, cervical cancer, and family planning, as well as capacity building sessions focusing on program design, implementation, and evaluation.

In 2009, WINGS has conducted a number of trainings for partner organizations. In January, WINGS’ staff trained workers at the Hospitalito Atitlán in Santiago Atitlán on reproductive health, family planning, anatomy, sexually-transmitted infections, and contraceptive methods. In February, we provided a similar training for the staff of Choice Humanitarian, an organization promoting sustainable village development in Cobán, Guatemala. In March, WINGS trained five grassroots organizations – Amigos de Santa Cruz, Mayan Families, Organization for Development of the Indigenous Maya (ODIM), Estrella del Mar, and Fotokids – on reproductive health and family planning issues. Due to the success of our Youth WINGS program, WINGS also frequently provides training to partner organizations on how to work with adolescents.

In addition to providing training to the staff of other organizations, WINGS is frequently asked to share its educational materials for adaptation and use in programs throughout Guatemala and Latin America. We are committed to open sharing of our resources and welcome such requests.
