WINGS is committed to respecting the privacy of our donors and supporters. We have developed this privacy policy to assure our donors that their information will not be shared with any third party.

What information we collect – WINGS collects and maintains the following information about donors and supporters:

  • Contact information: name, organization, address, telephone number, fax number, and email address;
  • Payment information: credit card number, expiration date, and billing information;
  • Donation history;
  • Information about donor interests;
  • Questions, comments, or suggestions donors have made;
  • Information about communications preferences;
  • Information about relationships between individual donors and organizations, foundations, community groups, or other individuals.

How we use this information – WINGS uses donor information for its internal fundraising and communications activities. Specifically, we use donor information for the following purposes only:

  • Distributing receipts for donations;
  • Thanking donors for their contributions;
  • Informing donors about upcoming fundraising and other activities related to WINGS’ work;
  • Internal analysis and record keeping;
  • Reporting to relevant government agencies, when required by law;
  • Contacting donors about changes to this policy.

Your personal information is stored in a private, password-protected database, to which only WINGS employees and volunteers are allowed access. Any person using the database is required to sign a statement acknowledging that they have read and understand this policy before they receive a password.

Confidentiality of personal information – WINGS will never sell, trade, rent, or lease your personal information to other organizations. Use of donor information will be limited to the internal purposes of WINGS and only to further WINGS’ mission and vision. In cases where WINGS supporters have requested to be put in contact with other donors, for example for the purposes of creating or expanding NESTs (WINGS’ supporter groups), information will only be shared with the explicit consent of the donor.

Confidentiality of financial information – All access to donor financial information is strictly limited to professional staff that need to process that information. No financial data is shared with any other person, organization or group.

Removing your name from our mailing list – It is our desire not to send unwanted mail to our donors. Please contact us if you wish to be removed from our mailing list.

Donor Bill of Rights – WINGS subscribes to the Donor Bill of Rights as developed by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and the Giving Institute:

Philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good. It is a tradition of giving and sharing that is primary to the quality of life. To ensure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public, and that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in the nonprofit organizations and causes they are asked to support, we declare that all donors have these rights:

I. To be informed of the organization's mission, of the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes;

II. To be informed of the identity of those serving on the organization's governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities;

III. To have access to the organization's most recent financial statements;

IV. To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given;

V. To receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition;

VI. To be assured that information about their donation is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law;

VII. To expect that all relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature;

VIII. To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of the organization or hired solicitors;

IX. To have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from mailing lists that an organization may intend to share;

X. To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers.
