Elias is originally from Aldea Chel in the Municipality of Chajul, El Quiché. Elias is a social worker who specializes in Management Development. Since 2003, he worked with various health programs, including: an immunization project for children under 5 and women of childbearing age and the Food Safety and Nutrition Community Facilitators Training for handling cases of diarrhea and pneumonia in children under 5 years. In January 2011, Elias joined WINGS’ Family Planning Program and is responsible for all capacity building efforts with partner NGOs and government agencies. As such, he reaches out to organizations who wish to replicate WINGS’ work and develops trainings based on WINGS approach to family planning and reproductive health education that he delivers to these groups. The goal of his efforts is to increase the number of people trained in family planning issues in all of Guatemala's 22 departments.
